Dr. Katherine Sunderland was born and raised in Southern Maryland.
She grew up on a small farm near the Chesapeake Bay and graduated from Towson University in 2014 with a B.S. in biology. She went on to attend veterinary school at Virginia Tech and graduated with her DVM in 2019. Dr. Sunderland enjoys working with all kinds of animals but has a special interest in geriatric patients and has an affinity for the feline varieties. Her professional interests include soft tissue surgery, ultrasound, and internal medicine.
In her spare time, she enjoys sprucing up the house, planting in the garden, and riding her horses. Dr. Sunderland was an active eventing rider throughout high school and college and competed at the international level.
Outside of work, she loves to spend time with her husband and her little "farm" which includes two horses, Kaylah and Wendy, three cats, Shadow, Meera, and Joy, and two dogs, Riley and Lady Bug.
